Tenants Initiative invites you to the next public meeting on the topic:
In Solidarity and Economically, How?
Not only rent and other housing costs, but also energy and food prices have been rising in recent years.
In a situation where most of us are dependent on markets, largely controlled by private corporations, to meet these basic needs, it is difficult to fight back effectively.
Even traditional methods of defending the real incomes of working people, such as union organizing or attempts at state redistribution through electoral politics, are running up against significant limits and are being pushed to the defensive.
How to break out of it?
One historically proven strategy is the development of so-called solidarity economies: building our own systems of providing for needs, independent of capitalist markets. These can be both a source of resilience and strength against private capital or the state, and a model and laboratory for positive change in the wider economic order.
What are the current strategies of the solidarity economy in the Czech Republic? What might their synergies with tenant organizing look like? And what would solidarity housing look like?
Come join us for the next tenants meeting from 18:00 to the community space Punctum – Krásova at Krásova 27, Prague 3 – Žižkov.
