INN PRAGUE: Brewery unions

Let’s Get Organized Series: We invite you to a new series of Prague public meetings dedicated to organizing.
Brewery unions
At the next public meeting of the Tenants’ Initiative, we will resume the topic of organizing. This time, we will talk to Luboš Petříček, chairman of the Kozel brewery trade union, about specific examples of collective bargaining with employers.

Breweries are an important part of Czech culture. However, even in the brewing industry, we must not forget the importance of organizing and collective bargaining in defending workers’ rights. How can we draw inspiration from brewery unions in defending tenants’ rights?

The lecture will focus on how collective bargaining works in one of the most important Czech breweries. We will present how a large brewing company manages to conduct social dialogue, resolve complaints and workplace accidents, and provide solidarity contributions. We will show how collective organization changes the balance of power and what tactics work in negotiations—whether it’s wages, deposits, or rent.
Come to find out how solidarity and joint action can bring real results.

After the lecture and debate, you can stay for an informal programme, this time in the spirit of Christmas. Come and meet the members of the Tenants’ Initiative over mulled wine, play ping pong, and have fun.

The public meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 10, at Punctum-Krásovka (Krásova 27) – the nearest tram stop is Viktoria Žižkov.
We look forward to seeing you there!
