Topic: How do tenants organize in Berlin?
On the second Thursday of January, we will meet traditionally in Punctum for another public meeting of the Tenants’ initiative.
This month, we will be visited by representatives from the Berlin tenants’ movement who have similar goals to our Tenants’ Initiative, but act in a different context of Berlin.
Still, we have much in common.
𝗠𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿*𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻 (𝗠𝗚𝗕) is an initiative to build a union for tenants in Berlin. They want to fight collectively for our rights and interests and stand up together against profit-oriented landlords and unjustified rent increases.
Representatives of the MGB membership will tell us about strategies that have proven effective in the struggle for defending tenants in Berlin and about specific cases of successful practice.
We will learn, we have a common adversary and that is Heimstaden. We will also learn how the Stop Heimstaden campaign is progressing. Why Heimstaden?
Come to our public meeting to learn about tenants’ unions abroad. At the same time, our public meetings are also a space where we as tenants can share our problems and get advice on housing benefits from a social worker or from a lawyer.
There will be refreshments to enjoy during the programme. After the end of the programme, stay with us to chat or play ping pong with us!
Punctum – Krásovka is located in Prague’s Žižkov and it’s 2 minutes away from the tram stop Viktoria Žižkov. If you can’t climb a steep hill, it’s possible to get off at the stops Lipanská or Náměstí Míru.
