INN PraGUE: What is going to happen with Housing Support Act

After years of debate, the Housing Support Act was passed last year with the aim of addressing the housing crisis in the Czech Republic. In practical terms, it is intended to help people who are at risk of losing their homes or have already lost them. It includes systemic measures such as the creation of housing contact points in municipalities and guaranteed rental housing. However, the current government is critical of the law and plans to discuss a technical amendment that could limit the support provided and also reduce the number of people in need who can access it.
At the next public meeting, you will learn about what is currently happening with the law, what is a thorn in the side of the current political representation, and whether we can do anything about it. Mikoláš Opletal, an advocate for the Platforma pro sociální bydlení (Platform for Social Housing) and spokesperson for the Za bydlení (For Housing) initiative, will talk to us about the current situation.
The lecture and discussion will be followed by a joint letter-writing campaign to political representatives at the Ministry of Regional Development and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, which we will then deliver to the relevant authorities. We would be delighted if you could stay with us and join the Platform for Social Housing in expressing our support for the current form of the Housing Support Act.
The public meeting will take place at Punctum Krásova (Krásova 27). The best way to get there is by tram to the Viktoria Žižkov stop.
